Qushui County
Located in the lower reaches of Lhasa River, Qushui County in the middle-towards-south part of Tibet covers an area of 1,624 square kilometers and has a population of 29,000. Qushui means “flowing-water ditch?in Tibetan. Subject to the management of Lhasa, the county government stands at Qushui Town. Within the valley zone in the middle reaches of Bramaputra, it enjoys a flat terrain. The county has an economy of half agriculture and of half animal husbandry, and serves as a commodity grain base of Tibet. At Qushui Town, the service facilities are complete and there are regular buses between Qushui and Lhasa every day. The famous sites include Xiongse Monastery (the biggest Buddhist nunnery of Nyingma Sect), Redui Monastery and Dzomalakang (where the Atisha’s holy stupa is located.)
