Dzonglo Goen Monastery in Riwoche
(rdzong glo dgon) is a Gelugpa monastery with an allegedly 500 year history, a period of time that is often claimed by monks if asked about the history of their gompa. It lies at 3,750 m above sea level and about 30 km west of Riwoche county town. Amidst a forest, the monks' quarters are scattered on the slope with a newly built dukhang to their side. By 1995, this assembly hall was not yet accomplished. |
