Sangri County
Located in the middle south of Tibet the northern area of Shannan Prefecture the south foot of the Gangdise Shan in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo Jiang, Sangri County is 2,638 square kilometers around and has a population of 14,000. Sangri means “copper mountain?in Tibetan. Under the jurisdiction of Shanan Prefecture, the county seat stands at Xueba Town. The Yarlung Tsangpo River divides the county into the north and south parts. To the north of the big river is the Gangdise Shan, to the south the Himalayas. The terrain of the valley gradually ascend from both banks of the river. The average elevation of this area is 4,000 meters above sea level and the highest more than 5,000 meters. The special local products are stone household utensils of Dagu Village and willow knitting of Zhaga Village. The famous scenic spots are consisted of Densatil Monastery, Dagu Scenic Spot, Lilong Alpine Plants Scenic Area and Woka Hot Spring.
