Qusong County
Covering an area of 1,967 square kilometers and has a population of 15,000, Qusong County is situated in the middle south of Tibet at the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yarlung Tsangpo River. In the Tibetan language, Qusong means “three rivers?as three rivers flow across the territory of the county; hence the name of Qusong (three rivers). Located in the valley in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, the county is surrounded by high mountains. The river valleys in length and breadth are narrow; with an average altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level, the terrain is high in the west and low in the east. The special local products are consisted of Qusong mat and simply colored glazed butter pot. The last Jialali King set up the Jialali Summer Palace in 1910 after his going to court to meet Qing emperor in Beijing with the 13th Dalai Lama. The palace, a courtyard house-and-pavilions-styled building, was precisely structured and luxuriously decorated showing a specially perfect mixture of the Han-Tibetan construction craftwork.
